TASK  (Teens Are Saying kNOw!)

The Burleson Pregnancy Aid now offers TASk to area schools.  Susan Simmons, our Educational Director, found this program from the Life Center in Midland, Texas.  The staff at the Life Center have graciously allowed us to affiliate with them, free of charge, training several staff members and volunteers to be presenters.

The program was chosen over others because of the proven success rate and it's content.  Midland boasts a 44.4% decrease in teen pregnancies and 68% decrease in teen abortions since it's implementation.

TASk is a three-hour presentation delivered by a dynamic speaker who shares the freedoms of abstinence.  This program is designed to build a foundation for the importance of sexual abstinence until marriage.  After the foundation is laid, students are equipped with the tools necessary for practical application of these principals to their lives.

SHINE! is a three-day character-based abstinence program designed for the sixth grade level as a foundation for decision making skills necessary to avoid "high risk" behaviors.  This program reaches students at an earlier age with factual information concerning the benefits of abstinence and the consequences of sex before marriage.

The TASk Parent/Teacher Program is a one-hour presentation delivered by a dynamic speaker who educates adults on the freedoms of abstinence for teens.  This program is designed to build a foundation for the importance of sexual abstinence until marriage and equip parents and teachers with the tools necessary for practical application of these principles to their teens.

During the presentation, an abbreviated version of the TASk Presentation is given.  The content is the exact same as what teen receive over the course of three days.  Alvarado ISD invited us to present this program to their students.  September 19th through the 21st, 2006, SHINE was presented to all 6th graders.  Junior High students were presented TASk September 26th through the 28th and the High School presentation was October 24th through the 26th.

Students were very receptive to the information they received.  A few of the skeptical teachers remarked, "You made a believer our of me!
